Starting with MetriCal v14.0, version 1 license keys (prefixed with key/) have been deprecated and
will no longer work after February 1st, 2026. If you use license keys prefixed with key/, please
create new license keys (which will be version 2 keys, prefixed with key2/) and use them instead.
License Creation
The Tangram Vision Hub provides an easy way to create and manage licenses for MetriCal. Create an account on the Tangram Vision Hub to get started. The rest of this guide will walk you through creating and managing licenses in the Hub.
MetriCal only requires a license when using the Calibrate
command. However, since that's MetriCal's core functionality, having a valid license is essential
for most use cases.
MetriCal will accept licenses associated with an organization that is on an active MetriCal plan. In MetriCal versions 15.0 and above, MetriCal will accept licenses associated with an organization that has a positive credit balance that is sufficient to cover the cost of the calibration being performed. License Types
Users can generate licenses at both the Personal and Organization level. Though they are interchangeable at the MetriCal level, there are some important differences to consider when choosing which type of license to create.

Creating Licenses
License creation is the same for both types of licenses; the difference lies in where the license is created (in the Personal Licenses tab or the Organization page).
First, choose a name for the license. A good idea is to associate the license name with the specific device it will be used with. Once you have added a name, click "Create" and a new license will be created.
Upon creating a license, you will see the license key along with a brief explanation of the different ways that you can provide the license key to MetriCal, along with a link to more detailed instructions.
Be sure to copy the license key and store it in a safe place! For security reasons, the full license key will not be shown again in the Hub.
Revoking Licenses
To revoke a license, click the "REVOKE" button in the "Actions" tab. Running Tangram Vision software with that license will thereafter return an error. If a user leaves or is removed from a group, their personal licenses are automatically revoked.
